Sanitary Sewer Overflow

Yesterday afternoon, February 25, 2025, the Village of Jemez Springs experienced a Sanitary Sewer Overflow with an estimated 20 to 40 gallons of wastewater escaping confinement attempts and entering the Jemez River.  The Wastewater Department Operations Manager and professionals from ProPipe were on site minutes following the report of the manhole overflow and were able to clear the line.  They will scope and clear this section of the collection system as part of their overall effort begun on Monday, February 24th to investigate the conditions of the lines and clear them in advance of a rehabilitation plan to be developed by the engineering firm Danial B. Stephens and Associates.  We anticipate that the scoping and clearing phase of this project will take about three months.

I will keep you posted should any other incident occur.
